Cowhorse blankets are made of 100% wool and measure 33'' x 38''.

They are hand-loomed here in the Mission Valley of Montana by our Master Weaver, Dionne Knutson.

There are two terms the customer should be familiar with when purchasing a wool saddle blanket... ''warp'', and ''weft''. The warp is the ''skeleton'' or framework of any blanket or rug. The less expensive blankets usually use nylon or polyester as warp. It is easier to find polyester or nylon that will withstand 150 lbs. of tension, however, it will dry-rot whereas wool will not. We use wool warp which will withstand 150 lbs. of tension, will not dry-rot, and which will last a life-time. Washed over and over, it will not rot nor will it weaken. The weft is the colorful part of the blanket... the part you see. The dye we use in our blankets is the finest available.

The wear leathers on the blankets are made of Hermann Oak strap or skirting leather. We have long and short leathers, depending upon whether a rear cinch is used. We offer twenty different patterns and 35-40 color choices. We also offer solid colors or solid colors with contrasting 1/2'' borders front and rear. The Cowhorse blankets are easily recognized by their long or short wear leathers, bold colors, and the best fit of any blanket on the market. Saddle Pads

The ultimate in a work pad. Double fleece top and bottom with a 1/2'' felt pad sewn in between. Absorbs large amounts of sweat from your horse, wicking the moisture away from its back. Easy to wash. Features 22'' long wear leathers that cover the bottom edge of the pad where the wear normally occurs the fastest.
